Deep Repair Coconut Hair Mask – GAIA

95.00

Ten supercritical CO2 extracts at 33% total concentration — more than ten times the industry norm for natural cosmetics — use the mask’s full 30 to 120 minutes of contact time to reach the scalp itself, including Frankincense CO2, one of the most costly botanical extracts to produce, and Hops CO2, the richest known source of a plant phytoestrogen. Every extract is sourced with full GC-MS certification, batch by batch.

Virgin Coconut Oil is the only oil with peer-reviewed evidence of penetrating inside the hair shaft itself — not coating it, entering it, where its lauric acid binds to keratin and measurably reduces protein loss during washing. No other conditioning oil can make this claim.

Description

Not Surface. Cortex.

Years of colour, heat styling, or simply time have left your hair in a state that daily conditioner can’t touch. It needs something that works from inside the strand, not just around it.

Most conditioning oils sit on the surface of the hair shaft. Coconut oil is the documented exception: its lauric acid has a unique molecular affinity for hair keratin, allowing it to penetrate into the hair cortex, where it reduces protein loss during washing — the primary mechanism behind cumulative damage.

Texture & Consistency

A semi-solid balm at room temperature — soft and scoopable, melting instantly into a fluid oil the moment it meets the warmth of your palms. Rich and creamy in the jar, silky and light once applied.

Scent Profile — What to Expect

A warm, comforting tropical-floral: coconut’s natural sweetness at the base, lifted by ylang ylang, lavender and clary sage. The richest, most indulgent scent in the collection — designed for a weekly ritual you look forward to.

How It Works — Why This Formula

GAIA is formulated around the one advantage a weekly mask has that a daily product doesn’t: time. With 30 minutes to two hours of contact, Virgin Coconut Oil has the opportunity to do something most conditioning oils physically cannot — actually enter the hair cortex, where its lauric acid binds to keratin and measurably reduces protein loss during the wash that follows. Shea Butter and Castor Oil work in parallel to seal the outside of the strand. That same extended window also means the CO2 extracts — Hops, Rosemary, Coffee, Turmeric — have enough time to meaningfully reach the scalp itself, not just the hair, which is why this mask does double duty as both a repair treatment and a scalp treatment in one sitting.

The GAIA Deep Repair Strategy

  • Cortex-Level Penetration: Virgin Coconut Oil is the only oil with peer-reviewed evidence of penetrating inside the hair shaft, reducing protein loss during washing.
  • Occlusive Sealing: Shea Butter and Castor Oil lock moisture in and seal the cuticle from the outside.
  • Extended-Contact Actives: With 30 minutes to 2 hours of contact, Hops, Rosemary, Coffee and Turmeric CO2 have time to meaningfully reach the scalp beneath.
  • A Weekly Ritual Worth Keeping: A rich, warm floral scent of ylang ylang, lavender and clary sage turns a repair treatment into something to look forward to.

Key Benefits

  • Repairs From Within the Strand: The only oil proven to penetrate inside the hair shaft, not just coat its surface.
  • Intensive, Not Incremental: 30 minutes to 2 hours of contact delivers repair daily products cannot achieve.
  • Dual Action — Hair and Scalp: Repairs strand damage while delivering scalp-supporting actives during extended contact time.

How to Use

Warm a small amount between your palms until melted. Apply to dry hair from scalp to ends. Cover with a shower cap. Leave for 30 minutes to 2 hours. Wash out thoroughly with shampoo. Use once per week.

For an intensive overnight treatment, apply as directed and cover hair with a shower cap or silk scarf, and use a dark or old pillowcase to protect bedding. Wash out thoroughly in the morning. We recommend trying a shorter 1-2 hour session first to assess scalp tolerance before extending to overnight use

A Highly Concentrated Formula

This formula contains 33% supercritical CO2 botanical extracts — significantly higher than the industry norm of 0.5-3% for natural cosmetics. Supercritical CO2 extraction preserves the full spectrum of a plant’s bioactive compounds without heat damage or solvent residue, resulting in an extract far more concentrated and potent than a conventional infusion or macerate. Every carrier oil, CO2 extract and essential oil in this formula is sourced from verified, trusted European suppliers with full Certificates of Analysis (CoA) and GC-MS testing for every batch — the same sourcing standard applied across the entire Artemida Botanicals range.
